About us Unisanté in a nutshell


Unisanté is a university center for general medicine and public health based in Lausanne, Switzerland – the capital of the canton of Vaud and the country’s fourth-largest city in terms of population.
The institution covers the entire healthcare chain, from primary care, care for vulnerable populations and occupational medicine, to health promotion and prevention, organization of the healthcare system, research and university teaching. Its aim is to maintain and improve the health of the regional population.
Unisanté cares for people both as individuals and as members of a community, taking into account their family, career, as well as social and environmental background. The institution’s expertise is based on scientific evidence, and it seeks to develop innovative solutions to help constantly adapt to health challenges.
Unisanté is the only interdisciplinary center in Switzerland that brings together such a wide range of public health and outpatient care skills under one roof. It employs around a thousand people, including some fifty faculty members attached to the University of Lausanne. Every year, Unisanté publishes over 400 articles in scientific journals and holds around 300,000 patient consultation.
The institution also maintains close strategic, scientific and functional ties with the CHUV (University Hospital of Lausanne) and the Faculty of Biology and Medicine at the University of Lausanne (UNIL).
