AKRE Christina

Biography

Christina Akre is head of the Social Science Sector at the Departement of epidemiology and health systems (DESS).

She holds a PhD in Life Sciences from the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) and a Master’s degree in Anthropology and Sociology from the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland). She also trained during 12 months as a research fellow at the Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (MA, USA).

Carrying a Privat-docent title of the Biology and Medicine Faculty (FBM) of the University of Lausanne (UNIL), she teaches different classes on the pregraduate and postgratude level at the FBM, as well as continuous training such as courses at the Swiss School of Public Health (SSPH+) and supervises Master and PhD students.

Her main fields of expertise are research in Human and Social Sciences applied to public health, transition from pediatric to adult care, adolescents with chronic conditions and their families, and qualitative methods in health.
