Biography
After contributing to the SCAPE-CH survey on patients' experiences of care in oncology, Sylvan Berrut is currently a research collaborator on the NRP83 GENDER-REACH project. This project focuses on how sex and gender information is recorded in medical documentation and explores more inclusive documentation for trans and/or non-binary individuals. They are based at the Department of Epidemiology and Health Systems (DESS).Sylvan Berrut holds a degree in social sciences from the University of Lausanne, a postgraduate diploma in statistics from the University of Neuchâtel, and a master’s degree in public health from the University of Geneva.
They worked for fifteen years at the Federal Statistical Office in the fields of health and demography. Alongside their professional career, they have been actively engaged in LGBTIQ+ health issues for nearly two decades through various associations and working groups. In addition to their work at Unisanté, they also provide counselling at the Pôle trans of Checkpoint Vaud (PROFA Foundation).
