SAUCY Flavie
SNSF PhD Candidate at the Health and Gender Unit

Biography
I hold a master’s degree in Sociology and Anthropology of Health (2024), and my thesis focused on the experience of peri-menopause in French-speaking Switzerland and the impact of social and medical representations on women’s healthcare. My interest in social inequalities, gender, and health has been shaped by my professional and voluntary experiences supporting the integration of migrants and refugees in Switzerland. I have also participated in several research projects aimed at improving access to healthcare for migrant populations in the canton of Vaud.
Since April 2025, I have been pursuing a PhD in Humanities and Social Sciences of Medicine at the University of Lausanne. My research is conducted within the Health and Gender Unit at Unisanté, as part of the SNSF PNR83 project "Gender and Clinical Practice: An Interdisciplinary Exploration of Clinical Cases", led by Dre. Joëlle Schwarz. My thesis examines the impact of gender norms on clinical reasoning and practices, with a particular focus on how these norms influence pain management.
