Biography
Virginie Schlüter is a medical doctor who graduated from the University of Lausanne in 1996. She completed her doctoral thesis in 1997 at the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine, focusing on the link between abdominal obesity and dyslipidemia. Following this, she spent four years in clinical practice (at Saint-Loup Hospital, the Children's Hospital, and CHUV) before deciding to pursue further training in public health.
From 2005 to 2010, she worked at the Office for Health-Promoting Schools in the canton of Vaud, where she served as project manager for the program promoting physical activity and healthy eating in Vaud schools. Between 2005 and 2008, she undertook public health training at the University of Geneva and earned her MAS degree in 2008.
In 2010, she joined the Cantonal Diabetes Program as a project manager, supporting its implementation. Her responsibilities included projects targeting children and adolescents, promoting EVIVO courses (living better with chronic illness), managing diabetic foot care (cantonal resources, diabetic foot screening campaigns), and evaluating and strengthening the role of nursing resources in diabetes care.
In 2019, following the conclusion of the Cantonal Diabetes Program, she joined the Health and Gender Unit at Unisanté, where she contributes to promoting the integration of sex and gender in medical education. In this role, she coordinates the project Sex and Gender Integration in the Swiss Medical Curriculum, funded by swissuniversities and the national network Swiss Gender Health Network.
