Cantonal monitoring of the supply of sterile drug use equipment

The provision of sterile drug use equipment is part of the harm reduction component of Switzerland's four-pillar drugs policy. In the canton of Vaud, the State Council formalised the provision of injection equipment back in 1996. The recommendations issued at the time by the Cantonal Medical Officer were reviewed in 2000, and a new policy for the provision of sterile consumption equipment, managed by the Cantonal Health Department, was introduced under the name of the Cantonal Harm Reduction Programme (PCRdR). REL'IER (Fondation Le Relais) is responsible for the operational management of this programme, while Unisanté monitors the equipment supplied.
