Swiss Cohort of Healthcare Professionals and Informal Caregivers - SCOHPICA
Trajectories and experiences of healthcare professionals and caregivers.
The SCOHPICA cohort includes any type of health professionals (e.g. general practitioners, specialists, nurses, paramedical staff, medical assistants, pharmacists, physiotherapists, psychologists, healthcare assistants, nursing assistants, dieticians, occupational therapists), from all fields (e.g. inpatient, outpatient, community, long term care) from different professions whether self-employed or employed, as well as caregivers, practicing in Switzerland.
Objectives
The objectives of the cohort are to better understand:
- the trajectories and experiences of health professionals in order to identify the conditions and situations that influence their intention to remain in the healthcare profession
- the life trajectories and experiences of informal caregivers in order to identify the key factors that promote their well-being
More broadly, the cohort will also aim to monitor over time the intention to remain in the profession (for professionals) and the well-being (for professionals and informal caregivers) of those involved, as well as the factors that influence these outcomes. This will enable us to identify the optimal conditions for high-quality professional practice and propose concrete ways to support the healthcare workforce and formally support family carers.
Quantitative and qualitative data will be collected at different stages of the project. Mixed methods will be considered for the analyses.
