Valérie D'ACREMONT

Biography

Valérie D'Acremont is a physician and epidemiologist, specialised in infectious and tropical diseases, head of Global and Environmental Health at Unisanté, professor at the University of Lausanne, visiting researcher at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, and former expert at the WHO.

She leads research projects aimed at reducing morbidity and mortality in patients living in resource-limited countries or returning from the tropics in Europe, by improving the quality of primary care. These interventions include clinical decision support algorithms and point-of-care diagnostic tests.

The aim of these projects is also to improve clinical skills, reduce the prescribing of medicines, especially antibiotics, and improve the detection of epidemics.

The impact of these interventions and/or their vulnerability to systemic risks, such as pandemics, climate change, and energy or human resources shortages, are also assessed.
