Biography
Stéphanie Pin has been Head of the Department of Health Promotion and Prevention at Unisanté since May 2023.
With a PhD in social sciences and a master's degree in health management and economics from the University of Lausanne (UNIL), she has held several positions in academic and public administration in France and Switzerland.
Between 2002 and 2015, at the National Institute for Prevention and Health Education (now Santé publique France), she was responsible for a hub for promoting physical and mental health from early childhood to old age, with a strong focus on accessibility for people in vulnerable situations or with low health literacy.
Back to Switzerland in 2015, Stéphanie Pin first held a position as a lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at UNIL, where she conducted analyses and research projects on the impact of social determinants on the health trajectories of older people.
Between 2016 and 2018, she was head of the Centre for Expertise and Evaluation in Public Health (CEESAN) at the University Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine (IUMSP), which was integrated into Unisanté when it was created. There, she carried out various research and evaluation mandates on behalf of cantonal and federal public authorities and health organizations.
She joined the Vaud Cantonal Health Department in 2018 as a strategic advisor to support the implementation of the Public Health Policy Report, specially regarding to the organisation of community care and support services and the strengthening of health promotion and prevention, before heading the Community Health Department between 2019 and 2022.
Throughout her career, Stéphanie Pin has supported the development and implementation of structural measures and the strengthening of health-promoting environments in order to reduce social inequalities in health. She is also interested in methods that promote knowledge exchange and sharing between the population, professionals, decision-makers and scientists, as well as co-design approaches to public policy.
