Health Promotion, Prevention and Screening

Icon health promotion

Clinical preventive medicine activities include measures intended to promote health and prevent the onset, spread and disabling effects of diseases and injuries.

The goal of preventive medicine is the absence of disease, either by preventing the onset of a disease or by stopping a disease and avoiding the resulting complications after its onset. Preventive medicine may be practiced by governmental agencies, primary care physicians and individuals themselves.

At Unisanté, research into the domain of Health Promotion, Prevention and Screening focuses on the following:

  • Studies designed to obtain convincing data on risk factors and operations that may reduce the risk of the onset or spread of diseases.

  • The development of screenings and studies of their effectiveness, for example, in terms of high blood pressure, smoking, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes, the analysis of family history and cancers.

  • Studies on active lifestyle, giving up smoking, physical activity, weight management, stress management or healthy eating habits.
